English Language Laboratory

At SRRCET, the English Language Laboratory is an important facility that supports students in developing effective and efficient communication skills. The importance of the Language Laboratory has been clearly recognized in the college curriculum through communication-related courses.

Any learner who wants to communicate effectively and efficiently must have a strong command of the language. Clarity and accuracy are essential components of effective communication. The Language Laboratory provides students with opportunities to practise and evaluate their communication skills.

Students from all departments are trained to improve the four essential language skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing (LSRW).

The goal of the English Language Laboratory is to help students improve their language abilities through computer-based language learning. The laboratory is equipped with Internet-enabled computers, audio systems, LCD projectors, headphones, collar microphones and updated computer systems.

The technological facilities help learners improve their language skills by stimulating both visual and auditory learning. The resources available in the laboratory help students develop and maintain their listening skills. The language testing facility is also useful for evaluating students' speech and pronunciation.

Objectives of the Language Laboratory

  1. To equip the learners with good communication skills.
  2. To enable the learners to participate in discussions and debates.
  3. To expose the learners to the exact patterns of language in terms of stress, pause, intonation and grammar.
  4. To improve the presentation and participation skills of the learners.
  5. To prepare the learners to face job interviews.

Topics Covered in the Language Laboratory

  1. Basics of LSRW
  2. Grammar and Vocabulary
  3. Listening Comprehension: From Elementary to Higher Level
  4. Reading Comprehension: Both Inbuilt and Extensive Materials
  5. Writing: From Basic Sentence Patterns to Creative Writing
  6. Introducing Oneself
